Typos are ok, but the american language has taken a lot of liberty with
the spelling. It is not uncommon to come across strange usages and
spellings. I always thought of compiling such nuggets. Examples are: "do
to" for "due to", "quite" for "quit", "didgits" for "digits", and many more.
I have reasoned that this happens in case of people who have learnt the
language mostly by hearing rather than by reading.
