Here is another samasya from the list of SrI mEDasAni mOhan's sahasrAvadhAnamu
and my attempt at the pUraNa.
samasya : kaara`mu haayigolpa satikaaya`mu poMdenu pulkariMtala`n
u : hAramu teccinaTTi, pati kannula kandapu vindusEyagA,
cIranu kaTTenE paDati, pondika yABaraNammu dAlci, yA
tIrunu cUcukOga mari mATiki mATiki yaddamand alan
kAramu hAyigolpa sati kAyamu pondenu pulkarintalan !
In the pUraNA for "vAnadEvuDu karuNinci...", sadAnanda gAru and PrabhAkar gAru
excelled in attributing proper BAvamu to vAna dEvuDu going into the vArdhi.
This is my attempt on the same samasya...
" hOru hOruna vAnallu varada locce,
cimma cIkaTi rEbavalokka rIti,
nITa munigenu divisIma, tuTTa tudaku
vAna dEvuDu karuNinci vArdhi jocce.."
I was trying to portray the havoc caused by the '77 cyclone in Andhra, which
devastated the "divi tAlUkA" in kRshNA jillA. Since vAna dEvuDu seems to
originate from the Ocean (vArdhi), especially during cyclone time, it is
obvious that it appears to recede into the Ocean after everything subsides.
Coming to the samasya on "rAvaNu jEre sIta yanurAgamu lolkeDu palkulADucun",
the pUraNa proposed by Dr. Prabhakar gAru made use of the meaning of
"ravamu = Sabdamu", rAvaNuDu = "Sabdamu - ravamu" cEyu vADu (No, I really
do not think that "kau ravulu" is derived from ravamu..:-), we can probably
pull it aside into one of our other discussions on etymology about "padamulu
and vAti vyutpattulu mariyu vyutpattardhamulu").
In one of his pUraNalu on the samasya on "vAnadEvuDu karuNinci..", he
excellently linked it to "rAmAyaNa.." and lankAdahanam. Well, I tried
to do the same thing on this samasya, but here I had to resort to
"nidra and kala" combination to take out the artha vaiparItyamu of
"rAvaNu jEre sIta.."
Here it is..
" pAvani vAlamUci penu lankanu yagniki AhutIyagan,
kAvaga dikku lEka janulellaru BItito, parvuletti rA
rAvaDi nenca lEdu, daSakanThuDu nidrile, kAnce nA kalan,
rAvaNu jEre sIta yanu rAgamu lolkeDu palku lADucun.."
Intended meanings : pAvani = pavana sutuDu, hanumantuDu;
rAvaDi = rAnunna pramAdamu, vipattu;
vAlamu+Uci = vAlamUci
Haven't heard of rAvaNa sleeping that much ?? Don't worry, after all, he is
supposed to be the elder brother of the eternal sleep-er kumBakarNa...:-)
No, the explanation could be that, once rAvaNa humiliated hanuma after
the later was caught and brought to his court, he thought that he could
get away by just letting pavana sutuDu go away. "tOkaki nippu peTTi kOtini
Baya peTTa vaccani anukonnADE kAnI, rAbOyE pramAdAnni kAncaka, niScintagA
nidra pOtunnADanE" BAvam ApAdincE prayatnam.
O.K., Here are a couple of more samasyalu from my side...
# 14 - vinta vAvi varusa telugu nEla... (Ata veladi)
# 15 - AviDa kAlu jAreniTa vEgame rAride vEDka jUDagan... (utpala mAla)
As usual, I'll post my attempts on these pUraNAmulu a little later and
as always your comments and corrections are most welcome.
regards....
