1. Who will read the telusa postings if this vote passes?
ANS: If this vote passes, the telusa postings will be available to:
anyone who receives the World Electronic Telugu Digest, or who reads
s.c.i.t. newsgroup.
2. Why can't these people just subscribe to telusa?
ANS: some people cannot or prefer not to get much e-mail, but read the
newsgroup at their leisure. All telusa postings are suitable material
for the scit newsgroup.
3. Won't s.c.i.t. readers object if there is a sudden onslaught of
literary threads?
ANS: there are regular postings on scit asking for more telugu
postings. Prior to the formation of telusa few of us suspected that a
telugu literature newsgroup could generate much interest; no reason to
underestimate the level of interest outside of this group.
4. Who cares about s.c.i.t. anyway?
ANS: many of us met through s.c.i.t. and it remains the main telugu
group which is indexed in internet guides, search tools, etc.
Unfortunately it has become worse in recent months and years, and since
we have come upon a good thing, which we can easily share, we ought to do so.
5. Does this mean I now have to read s.c.i.t. too?
ANS: No. while mailing lists imply listening as well as talking,
newsgrous carry no such expectation. scit readers may sent personal mail
in response to telusa postings, though.
6. I've heard that scit readers are a nasty bunch. Wont' that stifle
me, as I am used to writng to our cruelty-free group?
ANS: ah, ye of little faith. we will discover the kinder gentler side
of scit. In any case a small percentage of the nastiness on scit comes
from scit *readers*, owing to 1) the heavy level of cross posting and 2)
the fact that not all who post read, and not all who read post (see #5).
7. What about those messages I have been posting to telusa though they
are actually addressed only to 2 or 3 members?
ANS: send them to those 2 or 3 members (whether or not the vote passes).
8. Why can't individuals posting on telusa copy their own messages to
scit if they are so inclined?
ANS: some have already started. not everyone can do this easily; some
cannot do it at all. If someone who was copying her mail to scit
wanted to respond to a mail written by someone who was not, this would
cause problems as well.
9. In that case why not just kill telusa and we all go back to scit?
Some people prefer to receive e-mail than go to newsgroups. For them
nothing will change except that there is a chance for more people to
respond to their postings.
10. How can we be sure that auto-copying telusa to scit will not result
in scit postings coming to telusa?
ANS: telusa address will not even appear in the scit posting.
Recommendation: send your YES vote for "pumping" the ferrous-rich telusa
into the anemic veins of s.c.i.t to
