Not having seen the similarity between Telugu and Simhalese scripts, I
can't comment on their relationship, but I was surprized that the
phylogenic tree did not include Kannada whose script so much similar to
that of Telugu.
I would however doubt that Nagarjuna has anything to do with it because
Sri Lanka practises Theravada Buddhism, whereas Nagarjuna taught Madhyamika.
It may however be possible that Telugu Monks went to Sri Lanka during
Ashoka's time, but then Telugu script of that day may not bear
resebmlance to that of today.
