I am curious to know why you called chAndramAnaM as "luni-solar"
and not just lunar.
On a related note, the Korean and Chinese calenders, also
chAndramAnAs, start with amAvAsYa.

Please excuse me if this is off-topic for TELUSA, but I
have several questions:

COuld someone explain the meaning/origin of the word
"saMkrAnti"?
Also, if telugus followed chAndramAnaM, why did we end up giving
importance to sun entering makara rASi? Is it because of
dravidian influence?
Since KrishNa says "mAsAnAM mArgaSIrshOhaM", the vedic scholars
who wrote gIta must have followed the chAndramAnaM too. So who
phrased the apparently sanskrit-sounding "dhanurmAsam", and why?

Thanks to many kind souls to I know will answer these....
